Shower door threshold
A shower door threshold is mounted directly below the shower door. Its purpose is to force the water to drain back into the shower enclosure, rather than spilling out onto the shower room or bathroom floor. Shower door thresholds are used in both domestic and commercial settings such as hotels, leisure facilities and holiday resorts. They are a useful addition to a shower room to remedy water escaping under the door, to provide a barrier if the shower tray is not deep enough to withhold the volume of water or the water is not draining quickly enough. GlassParts supply a range of shower fittings and tools to trade. These include shower door seals and thresholds to suit different project requirements.
Choosing the right threshold for your shower project
Your choice of shower door threshold for your shower project will depend on the configuration of your shower door and enclosure. If the floor of your shower enclosure is flat, or has an out-sloping curb, the 304SS shower door threshold is the perfect solution. Ideally a shower curb or lip should be slanted inward, towards the shower so the water flows in the direction of the drain. However, a level curb (or flat floor) will cause the water to stand, while a curb that is angled away from the drain would make the water leak out, onto the bathroom floor. This is where the 304SS provides the required barrier, as it encourages the water to drain back into the enclosure without causing an obstruction. The 304SS has a rounded low contour of 7mm in height that doesn’t cause any discomfort to the feet. It is available in a mirror polished finish and a brushed stainless finish. The threshold is supplied in 1 metre lengths that can be easily cut to the required size.
A tapered shower door threshold does a similar job but can be used in conjunction with shower door sweep, which is a strip that snaps on to frameless shower doors to prevent water from spilling out onto the bathroom floor.
A tapered shower door threshold leaves a minimal sightline from outside the shower. The rounded 10mm contour also doesn’t cause any discomfort under foot. The tapered shower door threshold has a polished chrome finish and is sold in 2.49 metre lengths.
